This school honestly has been one of the worst I have attended. They honestly don't seem to care about the growing bullying issue here good enough and they still use the outdated, "Be Nice." motto to this day. Most of this school is focused on more of athletics then it's students. I even skipped the last week of middle school because I could not stand my teachers there even as well. The struggles of some people who have a learning disability or disorder in a particular subject or overall in general can't seem to understand because they don't seem to get a good chance of graduating due to the fact that some of the co-education teachers at the high school don't know how to deal with kids of the special nature.I feel bad for anyone's kid who is special education and attends this school. Think twice before you send your kids here.
so fun kids are so nice and awesome great sports teams and the teachers are class a
First off, I would like to say I would give this place a half star if at all possible. This place is as my Italian uncle would say "trash". Yes it does have a lot of opportunity and seemingly decent funding, yet it lacks in the ability to actually do something right. First we have a system that preaches "anti-bullying", yet it does nothing to prevent it. The same two words crammed down the throat of the student body does absolutely nothing to stop a problem, especially when it is mostly ignored or brushed off. Bullying runs rampant in the halls, and yet even the teachers turn a blind eye to it. Nothing is done, and in the even that a student asks for help it starts right back up again. Next we have the racism that can only be found in such a place that festers profusely. It makes it so much easier to pick on a kid if they have a different ethnic background apparently, because that's exactly what happens. Race is just thrown into the same category as being weird if your not dutch or trying to be. As I make this point I would first like to state that the staff, while being awful, is full of generally good people that seem to be trying. However this is overridden by the fact that they are generally negligent to their students. What kind of teacher doesn't notice the racial slurs, or the bullying in the back of the class? Next we have the principal, I haven't meet a single Grandville principal that even came close to doing anything progressive about bullying. The one we have is some dude who is distant from the students and just talks about blind hope, pretending as if everything gets better as the gaping wound of a school festers into something worse and worse. Regardless of all of this, I do have to admit that this place does give plenty of opportunity. Even if the only way they show it is through the god awful mess they call announcements, there are many programs that vary and can help a lot of students with their future. Yet these are all overshadowed by the constant yammering of sports and the stars of it, ironically awarding bullies just because they can move a ball or puck from place to place.
screw this place the only good thing about it is the gay club and choir
I am grateful that my children have the opportunity to go to school in the Grandville district. We have only experienced the elementary schools so far and staff have been wonderful. I am hopeful my kids will have the benefit to go from preschool to graduation in the Grandville district.
