Absolutely the worst service back at the gun counter i have ever had. Stood in line at cash register for 15 minutes with no one ahead of me. 4 sales people all standing with their backs to me. None would even make eye contact with me. Finally got to speak with Don who answered my question quickly and issued me a gift card i was owed. Thank you Don. Over an hour to make a payment and get a question answered.
Went to the Grandville store tonight and waited and waited for help in the shoe dept. Asked another employee walking by for help, he said looks like he is with someone....you'll have to wait. Very rude and actually had an attitude. Went up front for help and talked to what we were told was a Manager....she was clueless and not friendly or helpful at all. Walked out of the store. There were at least 7-10 other customers waiting for help in the shoe dept that were all so unhappy and probably ended up leaving mad. Understanding it's a week away from Christmas there would be a wait...but 1 person helping? And the other store Associates rude and not helpful at all ? Pathetic.
We all know about the young African Americans that stole guns or whatever. But it's so unbelievable that I can't shop at a store I've been faithful to for years without being followed by secret shoppers and employees who are speaking rude comments louder than they think into their headsets about me. I'm a 21 year old construction site lead who works hard every week and makes more than enough money to afford anything in this store, but the way I was treated and harassed today made me rush out with only a $10 hat purchase. All I got were all eyes and no wide smiles or sincere welcomes. By far the most irritating and rude visit I've had and I felt completely trapped and pressured in the store. I know how to shop on my own. The only moment I felt welcomed was by the only African American employee they had in the store tonight and it was the only time I felt even slightly relieved. We have to do better as a community. Hell, I like to hunt too.
I was in the market for a Ranger Bass boat and went to Cabela's just to look at them. I had no intention to buy from them because I wanted an engine they didn't carry and told Nick Farris, the boat salesman such. Even though he knew I wasn't buying he spent 1 1/2 hours answering every question I had. His knowledge of the boat and electronics really impressed me. Not once did he push a sales pitch to me. I was so impressed I switched engine brands (after much research) and a week later bought a boat from Nick Farris. He was the reason I purchased a boat from Grandville Cabela's. His manager, James, was also outstanding. I highly recommend if you're looking for a new watercraft you at least talk with these guys. They also have a fantastic service department and all you'll need to outfit your boat. We walked to the electronic department where Nick spent 20 minutes scrolling through all the available electronics, never once pushing any specific brand or cost point, just explaining the options and performance of each. I truly appreciate this style of sales, there to answer all your questions with no pressure. Wow - this experience far exceeded my expectations. Can't wait for my new boat to arrive. Truly one of the best experiences in buying anything, let alone a high ticket item, I have ever had!
I recently took delivery of a new Alumacraft Competitor from the Cabela's in Grandville. I worked with Nick Farris and he was absolutely top-notch. I knew what I wanted, but live over 200 miles away, so we had to manage all the details via phone and email -- by the time we were done two weeks later, the email thread was over 60 emails long. Nick is highly knowledgeable, so he was able to answer every question I asked. Whether at the start of the day or late in the evening, I never had to wait long for an answer. He was also patient, and went way above and beyond to get the boat set up just right. On the day of delivery, he reviewed the boat and features with me, and made sure all the extras were where they were supposed to be. At the end, he double-checked that the trailer was hitched correctly and that all the lights worked. He made the whole process go smoothly, start to finish. I would highly recommend that anyone looking for a boat be sure to talk with Nick.
